About

Anthony Chen is an award-winning pianist that graduated from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music with first class Honours in Piano Performance in 2017, learning from Paul Rickard-Ford.  Anthony was awarded an AMusA in Piano Performance in 2011 and later an LMusA with Distinction in 2012.

Anthony was most recently a finalist of the Australian National Piano Competition in 2022. In 2019, he also placed 3rd in the national Lev Vlassenko Piano Competition, where he also won the Griffith University People’s Choice Prize, the Queensland Symphony Orchestra vote, and the award for Best Performance of an Australian Work.

Anthony has also performed internationally, performing in the Estivo Chamber Music Summer School in Verona, Italy, in 2017. Other notable achievements include placing runner-up in the Sydney Conservatorium Concerto Competition, and runner-up in the inaugural Conservatorium Chamber Music Competition in 2017.

In 2018, Anthony continued developing his experience as a collaborative pianist where he won the Sydney Eisteddfod Vocal and Instrumental Accompaniment Awards and placed in the final of the inaugural David Miller Award. Anthony was a multiple winner of the Sydney Eisteddfod, and a multiple scholarship at both the Conservatorium and St Andrews College.

Currently, Anthony is the Keyboard Fellow of Sydney Grammar School where he has been working as an accompanist, repetiteur, music teacher, and ensemble leader since 2018.
